Hi! I just found your blog and I wanted to say hi from a fellow Adopted Unitarian Universalist Democrat Gen Xer! That’s four out of seven!

  2. Hey Useless Thoughts,

Sometimes when you’ve a minute and the inclination, would you please tell me your thoughts on the Unitarian Universalist church. Is it hardcore Christian? Or life and logic based Christianity?

    Rather curious.

  3. The short answer to your question about Unitarian Universalism:

Is it hardcore Christian? No freaking way… And the hardcore Christians would agree!!

Is it life and logic based Christianity? If you’re a Christian UU, yeah, it’s more like that. If you’re not a Christian UU, then it’s a life and logic based religion. UUism also focuses more on deeds than creeds. We don’t put as much emphasis on the nature of heaven and how to get in it as much as we focus on making the world a better place and how we conduct ourselves in our daily lives.

Let me think about it some more and I’ll e-mail you a more complete answer. If you want to get started on your own, try checking out _The Challenge of a Liberal Faith_ by George N Marshall. The book was written in the 60’s or 70’s, so it’s a little dated, but it’s a UU classic. (I haven’t read it, but I’ve started it.) You can also click on the Unitarian Universalist link under Links to find a more official description.
